In 2015 the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) created new rules for blog owners and content creators who utilize affiliate links in their content. This is to improve transparency and provide the reader with full knowledge of how the blog is operating, and who they are partnered or currently working together with. Canada have been in cooperation with the FTC since August 1995, therefore we operate in line with this agreement and the FTC’s rules and regulations.
More often than not, our posts and articles contain affiliate links, this in turn stands the chance we may get compensated or earn a small commission at no extra cost to you if you decide to make a purchase.
At Canadians Best, we pride ourselves on creating the best product reviews that covers the needs and wants of our readers first, and trustable, reliable and quality content will always be our top priority. Every product featured in our tent reviews, gear reviews or any other editorial content has been chosen by either our editors or our team of product testers and reviewers. We are not paid to review the products we write about.
The items we review and test are totally chosen in an unbiased way, and offers of sponsored content, paid reviews or free gifts for reviews are immediately rejected, as this is not how we operate or intend to do business. Not in the years we’ve been going so far, and we have no intention of changing this moving forward.
So, moving on, if you were to purchase a product through a link on our website, we would potentially earn an what’s called an ‘affiliate commission’. This is becoming very common media practice used by many well known sites, such as Outdoorgearlab, Lifewire, Consumergoods and Wirecutter to name just a few.
Affiliate Links: So how does it work?
Here’s how it works: If you decide to click a link within one of our posts, you that goes to an affiliate retailer, it will be recorded that you were sent by Canadians Best. If you buy that product, we may earn a small commission that will go towards maintaining our blog, and to keep future content and reviews being created. This system in no way effects the price you pay, it is exactly the same as if you went directly to said store, we just give you a helping hand and guide through the process and are humbly rewarded in the process.
We only work with the most trusted companies in the world, hence our cooperation with companies like Amazon.
canadiansbest.ca is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon properties including, but not limited to, amazon.com. Amazon offers a small commission on products sold through their affiliate links. Each of your purchases via our Amazon affiliation links supports our cause at no additional cost to you.
There’s no reason, purpose or reward system in place for us to pick inferior or biased products or to respond to offers (tirelessly) from the manufacturers, this is why this never happens. If you decide to return your purchase and get a refund etc, for whatever reason, we do not make a commission. We believe this is a respectable system and one that is fair to both sides, keeping your experience at the forefront at all times.
Sponsored Content: Do you do it?
No. We have never done so in the past, and we do not intend to do so in the future. We do not post any content, video, banner or images that has been paid to be there by an outside source. All our content is done in-house and by CanadiansBest team only. Keeping it purely for the reader at heart, and giving us an honest blog we can be proud of.
Guest Posting: Do you do it?
No. We never allow guests/outsiders to post their content on our site. Not that we don’t think they are good enough, but this is our team, our values and we respect and trust that our team will deliver the best content, with vigorous testing and unbiased results. We cant trust that outside content will have some financial influence somewhere down the line, so for this reason we will never accept it.
Why isn’t Canadians Best running ads and banners?
We made the decision not to have any kind of display advertising on our website. Simply- for you. This is one way we thought we could prove to you that our website is primarily for our readers, and not for financial gain, by leaving money on the table, but bettering the readers experience. We feel sometimes ads disrupt the reading experience and drive people away, we didn’t want that.
Do you accept free products from companies in exchange for a review?
No. We have never done this, and reject all emails and messages of this manner. We have always kept our best product lists unbiased, and will continue to do so. We wont sacrifice a piece of content that takes weeks to form, for a free $100 product, its immoral regardless of the price, and its not how we operate.
Our reputation with you, the readers, is of paramount importance to us, and we endeavour to make this transparent and give you the best possible experience when visiting us here. We will continue to test products extensively, and review them with honesty and a strong moral compass, with one aim in mind: to help you find the best possible choice out there.
